W. ALFORD
Paul Alford was born in Gadsden, Alabama. He graduated
from Gadsden High School in 1956. He received his Accounting
Degree from the University of Alabama in 1961 and did graduate
studies in 1962 and 1963. While at the University, Paul
was President of Theta Xi Social Fraternity. He
was a member of Inter-fraternity Council. Paul served
as President of Chi Alpha Phi, C & BA Statistics Honorary
Fraternity. He also was a member of Jasons Jamboree.
While at the University, Paul was a member of the Million
Dollar Band from 1956-1961. Her served as Band
Manager 1960-61 and was awarded a 4-year MDB Gold Key Award
and a Band Manager Gold Key Award. Paul has devoted
many years of service to the Million Dollar Band Association.
He served as Treasurer for many years and served as President
for two years. Much of the success of the MDBA is due
to Paul's efforts.
Paul is retired from Alford, McKenzie & Breeden, PC, Certified
Public Accountants in Decatur, Alabama. He served as
Managing Partner, CEO & COO. He has served
on Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan Board of Directors, Guaranty
Federal Savings Board of Directors and Altus Bank Board of
Directors.
Community Service has always been an important part of Paul's
life. He is an Eagle Scout. He is a member of
Decatur Jaycees; Morgan County United Way, Board of Directors;
Operation Home for Abused Children, Board of Directors, President
and Treasurer, 33 years; City of Decatur Planning Commission;
Decatur Mayor's Advisory Committee; and Austin High School
Athletic Booster Club where he was Treasurer and Board Member.
Paul is a Deacon in First Baptist Church. He has been
active in the Choir (President), Orchestra, Mission Leader,
Homebound Leader Chairman, Building Committee Chairman, Bond
Committee, Teacher, RA Leader-Coach-Director, Finance Committee,
Constitution Committee, New Member Visitation Committee and
Nominating Committee Chairman.
Paul is married to Jean Colvin Alford. They have two
children, Allison and Jack, and granddaughter, Claire.
