DONALD N. LEVY

A more enthusiastic supporter of the University of Alabama and the Million Dollar Band would be a challenge to find.  Donald N. Levy has been committed to the University of Alabama since his days growing up in Birmingham, Alabama and attending Shades Valley High School.  The first non-music major to serve as Band Manager, Don, a member and officer of Kappa Nu Social Fraternity, also played the baritone from 1956-1960, his entire career at the University.  His dedication was rewarded at that time with a 4-Year Member Gold Key and a Band Manager's Gold Key for his outstanding contribution to the Million Dollar Band.

Born in 1938, no one could have predicted that this son of an Auburn University alumna would have been such an integral part of the Million Dollar Band and its evolvement from simply a college band to a national phenomenon.  But, in addition to his commitment to the band, Don is the owner of Levy Advertising Agency in Birmingham.  His long list of community service positions includes:  Past President and Board Member of Hoover-Metro Kiwanis Club; Board Member of Temple Beth-El; Board Member of the Hoover Chamber of Commerce; Volunteer/Supporter of the American Liver Foundation, Alabama Chapter; Volunteer/Supporter of the Baptist Health Foundation; Volunteer/Supporter of the American Heart Association; Volunteer/Supporter of Grace Episcopal Church, Homeless Division; Member Air Force Association and National Guard Association.  Don served his country in the military Air National Guard from 1960 until 1983, with part of that time spent overseas.

Don has served the Million Dollar Band Association as President from 2000 through 2002, and was the inspiration for the "Million Dollar Band Experience" which takes place on campus prior to all home games.  But, according to our new inductee into the MDBA Hall of Fame, his greatest accomplishments are his "three beautiful daughters and six wonderful grandchildren".
